A Chevy Corvette Electric Sedan is On Deck for 2025, with a Corvette SUV to Follow

Chevy Corvette enthusiasts everywhere are losing their minds over this week’s news, and we can’t blame them.

Of course whether you’re on the hype side or a little fed-up with the electrification of all things fast depends on how the news will hit you.

General Motors (GM) announced recently that they would no longer sell internal-combustion-powered passenger vehicles by 2035, so the electrification of the Corvette isn’t exactly a shock – but having a timetable makes it somehow more real.

Now we know (almost) exactly when the cars will hit the market.

Chevy has announced that their iconic Corvette is joining the electric revolution with a sedan slated for 2025 – and there’s more to come after that.

What We Know About the Corvette EV

Details are still sparse about the specs for the cars that will come to consumers in 2025 if all goes well, but we do know that the C8 generation will get hybrid versions. GM announced the C8 hybrids back in April, to mixed responses from the public.

The C8’s successors are expected to switch to a fully-electric powertrain.

The most interesting part of this move is who Chevy is setting their eyes on as competition: the Porsche Taycan.

What that means for engine features and interior design, we could speculate on endlessly – but it’s bound to mean good things for the beloved car brand even if you’re skeptical about the switch to electric.

What We Know About the Corvette SUV (Say Again?!)

Joining the new Corvette EV (that really doesn’t roll off the tongue yet), Chevy has announced plans for a Corvette EV SUV. And that really doesn’t roll off the tongue.

Why Chevy’s iconic Corvette is taking on such a massively off-band undertaking is somewhat of a mystery (unless you consider the success of Ford’s Mustang-branded electric SUV), but if they can pivot with the times and stay ahead of competition then everyone will win in the end.

After all, as much as we love a good growling combustion powertrain, electric is the way of the future – and cars that can get there before everyone else will always have the advantage.

Setting the new Corvette lineup in competition with the Taycans is an exciting development that everyone can get behind though – and we only have to wait until 2025 to see it come to life.

Chevy has otherwise been tight-lipped about their developments, but more information will be released in the coming year.
