The Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo is a high-performance electric vehicle with many practical credentials.

Estates and Wagons may be different from the most beautiful cars out there, and they sell in high volumes compared to SUVs and sedans. Regardless of this, Porsche has nailed it in the Taycan Sport Turismo’s design department, also known as the Cross Turismo. The vehicle is based on the Taycan Sedan, which was Porsche’s first step into the world of electric cars. Since its launch, the vehicle has been an instant success when it comes to the high-performance electric vehicle segment, and the company has also experimented with different body styles and varying performance figures, targeting a diverse audience.

The sport Turismo retains the sporty driving dynamics of the Taycan sedan and adds some practical aspects like increased ground clearance and more luggage carrying capacity, making it a perfect all-rounder.

A Perfect Fusion

Porsche has been expanding their Taycan range at an increased pace every passing year. In 2019, the world was first introduced to the Taycan as a saloon that kickstarted Porsche’s journey in the EV world. Porsche later introduced the Cross Turismo version of the Taycan, an estate with rugged styling and some soft road capabilities thanks to its raised ride height. The sales of these two vehicles have gone through the ceiling. The combined sales of these two vehicles are more than any other Porsche on the market.

This was a sign for Porsche to push the Taycan range even further, and that’s what they have done by introducing the 2022 Taycan Sport Turismo. The range now includes vehicles like Taycan Turbo, Taycan Turbo S, Taycan GTS, and the Turbo S Sport Turismo. This vehicle is designed for people who enjoy the thrill of driving a Porsche while traveling with their family and luggage in a comfortable way. For example, if someone wants to drop their kids to school and then come home after doing grocery shopping, all while being over 150 mph, this is the perfect car to do so.

The Sport Turismo is still on the lower spectrum of performance offered by Porsche electric vehicles as it produces 408 HP and comes with an option of all-wheel drive. The car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds, making it encroach into sports car territory. Range anxiety is often a thing associated with electric vehicles but not with this one because it gives close to 300 miles of real-world driving range, and thanks to the fast charging infrastructure that this vehicle features, it can charge from 0 to 80% in just 22 minutes with a DC fast charger.

A True Head Turner

The design of the Sport Turismo is easy on the eye and seems like a conventional Porsche throughout. The vehicle takes design inspiration from the rugged Cross Turismo. It gets the body cladding out of the way for a much cleaner look. It keeps the same ride height as the Cross Turismo at 143 mm while offering 45 mm more headroom. Overall, the design is very much inspired by the cross Turismo on which the vehicle is based, but it has a much cleaner and more subtle look allowing it to blend into the urban jungle effortlessly.

The vehicle features LED lighting as standard across all trims, and it has several custom paint schemes to choose from, which come at a price premium. The wheel size begins at 20 inches, and there is an option to upgrade to a 21-inch set. When it comes to the overall stance of the vehicle, it is relatively low. The vehicle’s rear has a light bar, a signature Taycan element. This bar runs the vehicle’s entire width and sits below the active spoiler.

A Spacecraft-Like Interior

The sporty yet practical nature of the vehicle also extends to the interior. The cabin has comfortable seating for 4 adults and their luggage. The car can be equipped to have four seats and is feature loathed. It has 4-zone climate control, ventilated heated seats, and a massage function. The seats are electrically adjustable in 14 different ways, along with a memory function.

Some new features include the large panoramic sunroof and the premium Bose sound system. The interior also features two-tone leather, and the all-digital cockpit, along with the touch screen, is a delight. The car has three screens, making the interior feel like a spaceship. In addition, there is a driver’s MID, a central touch screen, and another screen in front of the co-passenger. In terms of safety, the vehicle does get some autonomous driving features like lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and pedestrian detection.

All in all, it is very difficult to dislike the new Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo as it balances the best of both worlds by providing sports car-like handling and driving dynamics and the practicality associated with a station wagon. It, indeed, is a sports car disguised as a Wagon.
