The new 2023 Nissan Z, with its classic design and modernized tech, offers the thrill of a true sports car.

The motoring world is evolving as SUVs, Crossovers, and EVs have seen a tremendous rise in the market. The future of mobility solutions is electric, and sadly the classic sports car segment is slowly dying in the process, unlike the mid-2000s when these vehicles were at their peak. Especially Japanese cars such as the legendary Mark 4 Toyota Supra, Mazda RX7, and the Nissan Z were front runners in the sports car segment back in their days. Even today, a two-door rear-wheel-drive sports car is unparalleled when it comes to sheer aesthetic appeal. While a few of them exist in their latest modern-day avatars, they do not have the same vibe to them as before. This is where the 2023 Nissan Z shines.

The 2023 Nissan Z features all the elements of a classic sports car: it has a two-door body styling, rear-wheel drive power delivery, and the most important thing of them all, a 6-speed manual transmission. This all adds to it being a fun-to-drive car with over 400 horses to play with under the hood.

A Blend Of Modern And Classic Design

The design of the 2023 Nissan Z takes inspiration from its predecessors, the 350 Z and the 370 Z. On the other hand, the bonnet is heavily inspired by the 240Z, as the bulge gives an aggressive forward look. The front bumper is also neatly designed with a lip that extends further than the rest of the body. The sloping roof design and those stunning-looking 19-inch wheels catch the eye towards the side. The 4-piston brake caliper is finished in red and gives the wheels a better look. A two-tone paint scheme uplifts the whole styling as well. The side of the vehicle also does not have any events or unnecessary cuts and creases, giving a spotless and mature character.

Another throwback design element happens to be the silver finishing on the sloping roofline and the side skirts on the lower half borrowed straight from the 350Z. A subtle boot spoiler and a fair bit of gloss black add to the style quotient at the back. The taillights take inspiration from the 300ZX but are modernized using all LED lights. The dual-port exhaust in the lower half of the bumper looks good and sounds good.

The Most Powerful And Capable Z Ever

The true mark of a sports car is its power, and it is fair to say that Nissan has done a great job in this department as this is one of the most potent and capable Z ever. Nissan has been increasing the power output of the Z series with every iteration, 300, 350, 370, and now the 400.

The 2023 Nissan Z uses a 3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, which is also the same engine seen in the bigger and much more powerful Nissan GTR. In the Z, this beast produces nearly 400 HP. The performance figure has not been officially revealed by Nissan yet. What is expected is that the vehicle will have a rear-wheel-drive set up just like a classic sports car and shall feature a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic gearbox, also available in the Nissan GTR. The Z shall be equipped with a limited-slip differential at the back for optimum traction around the corners and a launch control feature to help the car shoot off the line seamlessly.

Besides these amenities, the sports car offers a stiff suspension setup giving it a very firm ride quality. Overall, the new 2023 Nissan Z is mechanically better than its predecessors and has all the ingredients to become a perfect modern-day sports car.

A Redesigned And Purely Driver-Focused Cabin

The interior of the 2023 Nissan Z has not been severely updated, but it does get lots of modern-day techs to keep it up to speed with the competition. The triple pod instrument cluster on top of the dashboard offers much information like turbine speed, boost pressure, and oil pressure. The seats are now electronically adjustable and have leather upholstery. In terms of tech, an 8-inch touch screen infotainment system comes as standard, which can also be upgraded to a 9-inch unit. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are offered as standard, and a 12.3-inch digital driver display is included. Overall, the cabin can accommodate two people in utmost comfort, and it also has all the modern-day bells and whistles to keep the driver entertained.

The 2023 Nissan Z is a perfect sports car for the modern age as it has tremendous power, fantastic styling to back it up, and a feature-loaded cabin to ensure it justifies its $40,000 price tag.
