Is the 2023 Chevrolet Montana An Unrealized Ford Maverick Competitor?

Like us, you probably cannot keep quiet if you come across a Ford Maverick, Hyundai Santa Cruz, or Ford Transistor. You then devote the next 10 minutes to discussing the new unibody small pickup truck market. Merging the benefits of a vehicle with a pickup truck is a wonderful concept.

After their discussion, Chevrolet expresses regret for having missed the boat on the mini-truck movement. In contrast to General Motors (GM’s) concentration on three truck segments (midsize, full-size, and heavy-duty), Ford has moved its attention to those two segments. Finally, in 2019, Ford brought back the Ranger to the midsize segment, and in 2022, it introduced the Maverick as its fourth pickup. So we now have this modern-day version of the mini-truck. As Ford has done, we are urging GM to diversify into the truck market with a four-track approach.

Newsflash. GM’s truck fleet now includes a fourth vehicle of the same size. Chevy’s Montana is here, and it’s mouthwatering. However, try not to become too enthused. You can only observe; touching is forbidden. It’s not for everyone, even if you are in Montana. While satirical, our message communicated our disappointment at seeing another fantastic opportunity pass us by in our market.

Chevrolet Montana production will move to GM Sao Caetano do Sul in South America in 2023. This is part of Chevrolet’s plan to modernize its worldwide vehicle lineup. The Chevy Tracker, on which it is based, will also be included. Chevrolet has verified that the production of the redesigned Montana is in its final phases of development. By 2023, it’s expected to hit the shelves in Brazil.

The updated Tracker will have similar foundations to the old one. However, specifics are still sketchy at best. In their advertising, Chevy said that the engine would be turbocharged. In contrast here to Opel Corsa-based Montana (2003-2010), and the Chevrolet Agile-based Montana (2003-present), the new model will be a four-door Crew Cab (2011-2021). DRLs, nostrils, and grille appear to be lifted directly from concept art for the next Colorado and Blazer, suggesting that Montana has been snooping. Chevy promises that it will be roomy and pleasant to ride in.

Furthermore, it will be effective. A stick shift is another option. Chevrolet, you’re making things difficult for us. In all likelihood, we will never witness a Chevy Montana ZR2 or electric Montana racing alongside Tremor Mavericks or Santa Cruzes since Montana isn’t manufactured in the United States and would need GM’s approval of a major project. Nevertheless, there is still room for gratitude for people who possess the impossible. The 2023 Chevrolet Montana is built on the Chevrolet Tracker, even though it may seem sporty, thanks to design elements borrowed from the Chevrolet Blazer.

These automobiles have the same manufacturing process since they are both built upon the GEM platform. By doing so, it’s simple to recycle the core mechanical parts. The unibody construction and optional all-wheel drive make this pickup an attractive option. However, it’s intended to drive like a sporty crossover SUV rather than a truck. Additionally, a six-speed manual gearbox may be an option. However, it’s unlikely that this version would be sold in the United States.

On the inside, Montana is comparable to the Chevrolet Silverado & Colorado. The digital instrument cluster, the layout, and the 8-inch infotainment display all appear quite similar, only in scale.
